Dropbox mac big sur1/5/2024 I am posting this topic a second time in more detail to elevate it, to make sure you are aware of the problem, and also to show you actual screenshots, since one picture is worth a thousand words. You did not as yet respond to the concerns dev raised 17 days ago. I believe this was pointed out to you on a posting from November 27, 2021, posted by Dev. When do you plan to do when you believe what you are doing now is mirroring the Finder but actually in fact is not? You need to make Dropbox look and function the same in Pathfinder as it does in Apple Finder when it comes to SmartSync? Here are the steps I took: 1) Login to 2) Click on my avatar top right and choose Settings 3) Select the Security tab and scroll down to Devices 4) Find the device exhibiting the problem and click the trash bin icon to the far right. It was no different from if I had dragged the file to iCloud or Google Drive.īy moving seldom used files to Dropbox and storing them as ONLINE ONLY, my Mac HD storage is again manageable. Notebooks can be shared with others using email, Dropbox, GitHub and the Jupyter Notebook Viewer. ![]() I kept dragging items I didn't use often from my Mac HD to Dropbox using Pathfinder.Īll that served to do was make a copy of the file in Dropbox, and the file on Dropbox would stay in sync with the file on the Mac HD. I keep running out of HD space and could not figure out why. In the normal Dropbox implementation, the files the users puts into Dropbox also remain as local files on the Mac. ![]() SmartSync is only available to people with Pro subscriptions. You have not in the least integrated Dropbox Smart Sync functions into Pathfinder. The sync does appear to still be working, but not indicating files states correctly. Saving me enormous amounts of HD space on the local Mac drive. Recently, I lost the Smart Sync context menu on my Mac (Big Sur 11.6.8) and noticed that the Smart Sync icons are no longer accurate, meaning that some folders that have local files are showing as all online and vice versa, but not all and not consistently. The actual file was ONLY saved in the Dropbox Cloud. Notice in the Finder Window that I can tell if an item is synced between my Mac and Dropbox, with the FULL FILE present in both places or if the file in the Mac was merely a small placeholder, a link or alias to the actual full file in Dropbox. ![]() Notice how many more menu items I have under Finder. The other is how Dropbox looks and functions on Apple's Finder under Big Sur. Look at the two attached screenshots, please.
